Cunosti dansul acesta. Il faci de ani de zile.
Pantoful te strange. Comanzi cu jumatate de marime mai mare. Acum aluneca la calcai. Il schimbi inapoi. Te strange din nou. Renunti si il porti oricum, cu un plasture in geanta pentru orice eventualitate.
Concluzia la care ajung majoritatea femeilor: "picioarele mele sunt dificile". Nu sunt. Problema este ca ajustezi singura dimensiune pe care ti-au dat-o - marimea - cand, de fapt, problema este cu totul alta.
You know this dance. You've done it for years.
The shoe pinches. You order half a size up. Now it slips at the heel. You swap it back. It pinches again. You give up and wear it anyway, with a plaster in your bag just in case.
The conclusion most women reach: "my feet are difficult". They're not. The problem is that you're adjusting the only dimension you were given - the size - when the real problem is something else entirely.

Size measures length. That's it.
Here's the thing no one tells you in the store: the number on the label - 37, 38, 39 - measures one single thing. The length of your foot. Nothing else.
It says nothing about how wide your foot is at the ball. Nothing about the height of your instep. Nothing about the volume of your foot. When a 38 pinches and a 39 slips, you're only getting information about length - but your problem, most likely, is width.

Fiecare pantof e construit pe un calapod.
Fiecare pantof din lume este construit in jurul unei forme din lemn sau plastic numita "calapod". Calapodul da forma pantofului - lungimea, latimea, adancimea, curba. Si aici este surpriza: fiecare brand isi face calapoadele diferit.

Every shoe is built on a last.
Every shoe in the world is built around a wood or plastic form called a "last". The last gives the shoe its shape - length, width, depth, curve. And here's the surprise: every brand makes its lasts differently.
One brand builds for narrow feet. Another, for wide feet. One leaves more room at the toe, another less. That's why a 38 at one brand looks nothing like a 38 at another - and neither is wrong. They're simply built on different lasts, none of them on yours.
